GLICKMAN TO VIEW FIRST U.S. CITRUS SHIPMENT FOR CHINA, UNDER NEWLY IMPLEMENTED
TRADE AGREEMENT

     WASHINGTON, March 23, 2000 -- Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman will
visit Long Beach, the nation's largest cargo container facility, on Friday,
March 24, to view the first U.S.  orange shipment for China, under the newly
implemented U.S.-China Agricultural Cooperation Agreement.  Glickman will also
tour another cargo container facility to view unloading and inspection
activities, as part of his national tour to combat invasive pests and
diseases.

               9:30 a.m.      Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman continues his tour to
               combat invasive pests and diseases, conducting inspections
               of cargo shipments arriving in the United States.

From Harbor (110) Freeway
          Take 110 south towards San Pedro.
          Take the Vincent Thomas Bridge ramp east toward the Terminal Island (47)
     Freeway.
          At the east end of the bridge, take the Ferry Street exit.
          Turn left on Ferry.
          Turn right on Terminal Way to the Evergreen Terminal.

          Take 710 south towards Long Beach.
          Take the Terminal Island off ramp, and head west on Ocean Boulevard.
          Turn off on Seaside Avenue.
          Turn left on Ferry.
          Turn right on Terminal Way to the Evergreen Terminal.

          Take the Long Beach (710) Freeway south toward Long Beach.
          Take the Terminal Island off ramp and head west on Ocean Boulevard.
          Turn right and take the Terminal Island (47) Freeway north.
          At the Anaheim Street/Hanjin Way off ramp, turn right.
          Take Hanjin Way to the Hanjin Terminal.
