Little River Canyon National Preserve LITTLE RIVER FALLS Take 75 North to Exit 125.

From the falls, cross the bridge and continue
straight for 5 miles to a flashing yellow light.
HWY. 176 (SCENIC DRIVE-- CANYON RIM ROAD) From the falls, turn left out of driveway
and turn left (onto Hwy. 176) immediately past the bridge.
WARNING - County Road 275 is very steep and is in rough condition. You may want to end the scenic drive here and follow 176 back to Highway 35. Follow Highway 176 to Dogtown, Alabama to a 4-way stop, turn Right onto County Road 89. Follow County Road 89 to a 5-way stop, go Straight on County Road 89 to Highway 35. At the flashing red light, turn left on Highway 35 back to Fort Payne or turn right to Rome, Georgia. I recommend you go to Canyon Mouth Park, go back the way you came on Highway 273 to Highway 35, turn left, go 3 miles to the Falls, then left out of driveway across the bridge, turn left on Highway 176 to the Scenic Drive. Follow the Scenic Drive to Highway 176 back to Fort Payne or DeSoto State Park (avoiding County Road 275). CANYON MOUTH PARK *Shortcut --- On Hwy. 35 from Rome (before you get to the Preserve) you will see Rips One Stop Grocery on your right and an intersection (no stop sign for you). Turn left onto Hwy. 273, follow for 9-10 miles, turn right at sign for Canyon Mouth Park. DESOTO STATE PARK - Follow Highway 35 until you come to a flashing yellow light. Turn right onto DeSoto Parkway (County Road 89) and follow the signs to the park. |
Birmingham to Fort Payne, Alabama
Little River Canyon National Preserve LITTLE RIVER FALLS / EBERHART POINT / DESOTO STATE PARK Follow I-59 North toward Chattanooga
to Exit 218 (Fort Payne/Rainsville -- about 1 1/2 - 2 hours).
DESOTO STATE PARK - Turn left onto DeSoto Parkway (County Road 89) for DeSoto State Park and follow the signs. LITTLE RIVER FALLS - Go straight 5 miles, you will come to a bridge, cross the bridge and turn RIGHT into Falls parking lot. EBERHART POINT - Just before the bridge is Hwy. 176 intersection on the right. Follow Highway 176 for approximately 11 miles until Eberhart Point, enjoying other overlooks along the way.

Follow I-59 North toward Chattanooga
to Exit 218 (Fort Payne/Rainsville -- about 1 1/2 - 2 hours).
HWY. 176 (23-MILE SCENIC DRIVE-- CANYON RIM ROAD) From the falls, turn left out of driveway

WARNING - County Road 275 is very steep and is in rough condition. You may want to end the scenic drive here and follow 176 back to Highway 35. Follow Highway 176 to Dogtown, Alabama to a 4-way stop, turn Right onto County Road 89. Follow County Road 89 to a 5-way stop, go Straight on County Road 89 to Highway 35. At the flashing red light, turn left on Highway 35 back to Fort Payne or turn right to Rome, Georgia. CANYON MOUTH PARK *Shortcut --- On Hwy. 35, go toward Rome past the Falls parking lot for 9-10 miles until you see Rips One Stop Grocery, directly across on your right is Hwy. 273. Turn right onto Hwy. 273 and follow 9-10 miles. Canyon Mouth Park will be on your right. Or --- 23-Mile Scenic Drive, follow
Hwy. 176 to the intersection of County Road 275.

(onto Gault Avenue North) and follow to red light (Earthgrains Bread
Store on your left). Turn left.
DESOTO STATE PARK - Turn left onto DeSoto Parkway (County Road 89) to go to DeSoto State Park and follow signs into the park. LITTLE RIVER FALLS - Turn right
onto DeSoto Parkway (County Road 89).
EBERHART POINT - is about half
way down Highway 176. You can follow Highway 176 to County Road
275. Turn left on County Road 275 to Canyon Mouth Park.
