Phoenix Landsat morph

reworked version of a Phoenix Landsat morph

December 2000

This movie from the ERIM web site shows the urban growth of Phoenix, Arizona. The original movie morphs the data and the city outlines after they have been composited together which causes some undesirable blurring of the city outlines. I made a new version from the time period 1985 to 1987 (the original runs from 1973 to 1992) to demonstrate an alternate morphing method. The version I made morphs the data and city outlines separately. The data is interpolated linearly and the city outlines are grown using an algorithm I developed in IDL. The Quicktime show the original version of the movie on the left and the modified version on the right.

extracted original frames from a Phoenix Landsat morph

April 2002

Using the same quicktime movie from the ERIM website as above, I extracted the frames that had original data and discarded the morphed frames. Quicktime movies at 1 original frame per second:

The 9 still frames are here.
