Bombings of U.S. Embassies in East Africa
These two cowardly attacks seriously wounded over 5,000 men, women and children. Civilized people everywhere reject such acts of random violence. Usama Bin Laden, Muhammad Atef, Mustafa Mohammed Fadhil, Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, Fahid Mohammed Ally Msalam, and Sheikh Ahmed Salim Swedan and others already in custody are believed to be responsible for the bombings of the U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya on August 7, 1998. These terrorist attacks indiscriminately killed 224 innocent civilians and wounded over 5,000 others. These terrorists are believed to be part of an international criminal conspiracy headed by Usama Bin Laden. The U.S. Government is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest or conviction, in any country, of Bin Laden, Atef, Al Zawahiri, Fadhil, Ghailani, Msalam, Mohammed, or Swedan. A reward of up to $5 million may be paid to any person who furnishes such information. The reward is available under the Counter-Terrorism Rewards Program. This program is designed to protect innocent lives by punishing those responsible for past international terrorist acts against U.S. persons or property and preventing future such acts. The program provides for the protection of identity and the possibility of relocation for persons who contribute such information and their families. Persons wishing to report information about these bombings,
or any other terrorist attack, should contact the nearest U.S. embassy
or consulate. In the United States, call your
