May 22, 1997 The Honorable Ed Bryant Dear Sir: U.S. working men and women and consumers need your help. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) says "Made in U.S.A." in advertisements and on product labels should no longer have to mean what it says. Currently, for the most part consumers can be confident that "Made in U.S.A." means "all or virtually all" domestic parts and labor, as you know. To permit less than "all or virtually all" would be to perpetrate a fraud on the American public and open even wider the door to U.S. jobs being moved overseas. The FTC must be called to task by you and the other members of Congress. Very Truly Yours. Willie RuddWillie Rudd WR/slj Priority #1 Organize United States
