Approximately 43 soil parameters have been extracted from the original STATSGO database and presented as thematic layers. They include bulk density, soil depth, depth to water table, soil texture percentages, rock percentages, erodability, permeability, pH, organic matter content, calcium carbonate content, gypsum content, sodium adsorption ratio, and salinity. The file Soils5 relates to calcium carbonate per mapping unit identifier (MUID) that can be linked to each of the soils files created by USGS or to other soils data. After STATSGO data for the states of California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah were appended together, the Mojave Desert Ecoregion with a 50 km buffer was extracted. It is in ARC/INFO format, is projected to UTM, zone 11, NAD83 datum, GRS1980 spheroid, and its units are in meters.
