You are invited to CARBONATE BEACHES 2000, an International Symposium on Geology, Petrology, Geography, Management, and Coastal Engineering of Carbonate Sand Beaches.

The First International Symposium on Carbonate Sand Beaches will take place from December 5 to 8, 2000, at the Westin Beach Resort in Key Largo, Florida.

Carbonate Beaches 2000

Carbonate Sand Beaches are major coastal features in tropical regions of the world and are found in selected locations in temperate regions. These beaches are formed differently than silicate beaches that are found along many temperate coastlines. Management strategies for carbonate sand beaches may be significantly different than those for silicate/ feldspar beaches.

The goal of this conference is to produce a comprehensive multi-disciplined interaction of contributors to preface a better understanding and ultimate improved management strategies for Carbonate Sand Beaches.

Professional technical papers, poster papers, panels, commercial exhibits, field trips, and other events will foster a comprehensive exchange of information on Carbonate Sand Beaches. Abstracts are therefore invited on the topics listed below. Other related subjects associated with Carbonate Sand Beaches are invited. American Society of Civil Engineers will publish the proceeding volume. Proposals for complete topical sessions are also invited.

Interested authors are encouraged to submit an abstract for consideration in their area of interest within any one of (but not limited to) the conference topics.
