GENERAL
The self-interest involved in the submission of the complaint about BHRT compounding is evident. Highly skilled and trained pharmacists have been compounding medications to fit the needs of individuals for years, with thousands of studies and stories of success. The more that people see the benefits of these compounds, especially in comparison to many pharmaceuticals, the more they seek health care professionals who are open to and will guide them through this type of care. Apparently, enough people are happy with these newly discovered (though not new) forms of treatment that it is affecting Wyeth's profits to the point that they have decided it is time to get rid of the competition. However, prohibiting compounded BHRT would be unethical and could seriously affect the well-being of hundreds of thousands of people. If Wyeth truly is concerned about the health and well-being of people, I challenge those who raise these "complaints" about BHRT to fund more objective, long-term research studies before trying to sever people from it. Put your money where your mouth is.
