Encounter America's Crossroads: Our First National Monument

Encounter America's Crossroads: Our First National Monument: "There are few things in nature that engender an awful quiet in the heart of man. Devils Tower is one of them." N. Scott Momaday. Rising above the surrounding landscape, this 867 foot monolith at the far western slope of the Black Hills stands sentinel over a land of unique natural and cultural diversity.

Devils Tower National Monument becomes a classroom for several days as participants take part in interpretive programs, lectures, hands-on activities, and hiking opportunities on easy to moderate trails. Discover fascinating geology, abundant plant and animal life, and intriguing human stories of the area. Learn about the Northern Plains Indian culture and explore an ancient hunting site. Tour a modern coal mine and visit a working buffalo ranch. Some field trips require extended bus travel across scenic prairies, badlands, and forests.

Overnight accommodations and meals in the historic towns of Gillette and Sundance allow participants to experience Wyoming hospitality first hand.
