Podiatric Residency & Clerkship Programs

The Department of Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care System offers training to podiatry residents and students in two programs:

  1. Three year Podiatric Medicine & Surgery (PM&S-36) residency program , fully approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education.  The program provides a full scope of surgical training in all training years with a vast number of surgical attendings - forefoot, reconstructive rearfoot & ankle including Charcot reconstruction, limb salvage, and arthroscopy.  The program is well established, stable, and since it began in 1988 over 80 residents have been trained.
  2. Two week or one month Clerkship Program  in podiatric medicine & surgery.  Podiatry students work closely with our podiatry attendings and residents, participating in all aspects of patient care.  Hundreds of students have participated in the clerkship program which was established in the 1980's.

Located in the New York metropolitan area, both programs provide a rich array of professional and culture experiences.  Travel times are only 30 minutes to New York City, 45 minutes to the Jersey Shore, 90 minutes to Philadelphia, 4 hours to Boston and 4½ hours to Washington D.C.
