WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) and Mark Twain National Forest Supervisor Ronnie Raum will meet Monday, July 2, at 2:30 p.m. CDT to discuss timber sales and small-diameter timber projects.
“Small-diameter timber is often classified as a valueless product, but we have immense and important new opportunities to use this resource as a feedstock for biofuels. I am glad the Forest Service shares my commitment to finding sources for alternative fuels. We have a very valuable resource in Southern Missouri in the Mark Twain National Forest, and its sustainable management is an important economic driver for our economy. I appreciate the job Mr. Raum is doing, and I look forward to meeting with him next week,” said Emerson.
