One of the key archeological sites used in determining the sequence of prehistoric occupation on the northwestern Plains. The deposits indicate occupation from 2600 BC to after 1800 AD.

Condition:
The cave’s rock art continues to deteriorate due to atmospheric conditions and moisture on the rock walls. Various efforts are underway to find ways to document, stabilize, and, if possible, restore visibility of the rock art and stabilize the walls of the rock shelter.

The rock continues to deteriorate despite various treatments.

Recommendation/Change since last report:
The wall moisture will continue to require monitoring to assess impact on the rock art.
