ISSUES: Sexual health although a taboo issue, is perceived as one of the most important health problem by Pakistani males . They are more prone to sexual health problems due of their vast exposure and are exploited by numerous sex clinics and quacks, who exaggerate & distort normal physiological functions, thus giving rise to myths & misconceptions. DESCRIPTION: To get a factual picture about male sexual health problems prevalent in the society and its perception by men, a qualitative research was carried out in the low income localities of Gujranwala city. Base line data was collected from selected localities before research. [table: see text] Focus was: General health Sexual health problems; Sources of information; Proposed methodology. LESSONS LEARNED: Men take general health as all inclusive of psychological, economic and physical well being. The problem in any area ultimately leads to the sexual health problem thus rendering the person vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. A logical & clear sequence of the problems was told . They stressed the holistic approach. For if you treat one part and other problematic areas remain there, they neutralize the effect of work done. RECOMMENDATIONS: Steps should be taken for economic betterment. Sexual health issues be addressed with reference to religious teachings. Organize Adolescents at street level & Sexual health information be incorporated with the healthy entertainment activities. Information be given by a specialist in Community meetings. Sexual health information be incorporated in educational syllabus. Non formal guidance through Peer group, friendly parents, religious leaders and IEC material. Establishment of resource centers .
