Developed by the Environmental Hydrology team of the NCSA Alliance in collaboration with members of the Mathematics and Computer Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory, the Environmental Hydrology Workbench is a prototype of a problem solving environment for environmental and earth systems sciences.
This project aims to address several issues common to contemporary earth systems science research:
- interactions between multiple space scales and process domains (coupling)
- problem solving environments to facilitate work on the problem domain rather than on the minutiae of computing
- visualization
- effective use of widely distributed resources
