I am a 62 year old man who received his first amalgam filling at the age of 17. Immediately afterwards, I had to find another place to live because I had mysteriously become violently allergic to cats. Over the years since 1961 the dental profession has advanced greatly in finding ever more ways to restore teeth using mercury amalgam, and since I have bad teeth, my number of fillings grew accordingly until I had over thirty -including large restorations and root canals. Old washed out fillings had to be replaced several times over the years, adding to the toxic load each time. Before that time, the mercury problem was not so great for dental patients because when there was a serious dental problem, the tooth was pulled. Dentures were common. So, you see, my age cohort has been especially effected by large quantities of amalgam, even though it creates problems at any age. Along with the numerous fillings came a succession of mercury related health problems until in 1996 I became so ill that I could not longer work. I now subsist on a disability pension because of the mental disabilities from "Mad Hatter's Disease" which is characterized by hysteria, paranoia, metabolic problems, etc. It took me years to get a diagnosis, but finally an MRI showed that my brain was shrunken, and had two chaotic spots in it. I have been chelating the metal out of my system now for some years, but my condition is still quite unreliable. I have to stay away from other people for fear of speaking inappropriately and getting into trouble. I have started to stutter at times. Confusion and paranoia are still daily enemies. I often have to function while going around in a daze -despite all the things I do to control the symptoms. Sometimes I am clear enough to write like this, and at others I am not. My brain still gets numb, but it is much better than having strong pins and needles on my brain as I did before. I used to be an accomplished person. I hate this disease. Mercury is a liquid poison.which naturally migrates out of the fillings into the body and brain. On the way it promotes tooth decay and gum problems by reducing immune response in the mouth. Please do not continue to systematically afflict innocents with this insidious and crippling condition without at least giving a warning. Mercury is a known neuro-toxin. Let me assure you, it is very effective. Do proper research, and you will see! Tom Plumb Box 5016 Edson, Alberta Canada T7E 1T3 Yours Sincerely; Tom Plumb
