[ProfessionalDevelopment 645] PD List 2006-2007Taylor, Jackie jataylor at utk.eduWed Nov 8 11:46:54 EST 2006
PD List Colleagues: I've been glancing back into the history of our Adult Literacy Professional Development List, formerly called NIFL-AALPD. I thought you'd be interested to see the short survey results from 2003, the first year the NIFL-AALPD List was in operation. http://www.nifl.gov/lincs/discussions/professionaldevelopment/informal_e val_update.html (or try: http://tinyurl.com/y3r4dw). I'd also like to know your thoughts on these same 4 questions this * year. If you'd like to get straight to the 4 Qs, please see what's next. If you'd like to know why I ask, then scroll down a bit more. By Wednesday, November 22nd, please post your responses or email me off-list with answers to any of the questions below (jataylor at utk.edu) : 1. What do you like about the Adult Literacy Professional Development List? 2. What direction would you like to see the list take? (Or, what professional development needs do you think this list has yet to meet?) 3. What are your suggestions for moving the list in that direction? (Or otherwise improving it?) 4. What topics, if any, would you like to see pursued in discussion list activities? If I receive more than a handful of responses, I will compile them and share them back with the list as before. Why repeat this survey? a) Since 2003, the list has changed in many ways, including both name and format. We've covered a lot of ground in our dialogues. But as a group, we haven't reflected on what we've learned in a while, whether this list is still meeting our needs, and in what ways it can improve. b) NIFL is dedicating a portion of my time to offer a small range of activities this year of your choosing (type, topic, format, etc.). So this is an opportunity for us, as a group, to identify what we want. c) The PD List is a way for us to pursue our own professional learning and thinking together. We make the space into what it is, and what we want it to become. So think of the possibilities we have to learn from one another! This is your list, and I always hope you find it to be a welcoming and comfortable space for sharing, dialogue and reflection.
