"Looking for Love in the New India"
September 22, 2008
New Delhi - On Tuesday, September 23rd a New Delhi audience will hear Indian American author Anita Jain read directly from her new book "Marrying Anita: A Quest for Love in the New India." It is the story of Ms Jain's frustrations with the search for a husband in the Western dating system, her decision to return to India and pursue a more traditional arranged marriage, and what she discovers along the way.
In addition to reading from the book, which has been described as "a surprisingly wistful, even forlorn look at love in a globalized world," the author will engage in a public conversation with journalist and writer Nirpal Singh Dhaliwal.
Anita Jain was born in New Delhi in 1973 and moved to the United States when she was six months old. She graduated from Harvard University in 1994 and has worked as a financial journalist in Mexico City, Singapore, London, New York and Delhi, where she currently lives.
The event is co-sponsored by Penguin India and the U.S. Embassy, and will be held at the American Center on Tuesday, September 23 at 7:00 p.m.
