Profile: |
To date, the MRC, under sponsorship of the Niagara Falls Citizens Corps Council, has recruited practicing physicians, registered nurses, dentists, pharmacists, social workers, and ham radio operators to assist the county health teams with immunizations and vaccinations in case of epidemics, local catastrophies or even terrorist events. The MRC is aligning with the city EMS and county services and is assisting when and where needed.WE HAVE BEEN RECOGNIZED BY THE NIAGARA COUNTY LEGISLATURE and receive support from the
Niagara County Health Department, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center,
Niagara University Border Community Servives and the American Red Cross NF chapter. We are also "501 C-3" tax exempt status. The unit has participated in mass casualty exercises & assisted the NC Health Dept. in mass immunization clinics. We have recruited many active practicing physicians who are available for emergency callup but have been unable to recruit retired doctors because of the NY State malpractice coverage that requires license & insurance to volunteer their services. All the active members have been trained in ICS-100/200 and basic Red Cross first aid courses as well AED use.
