Transmission coefficients for neutrons and protons 2240 1451 37 were obtained from the optical potential of Koning and Delaroche 2240 1451 38 using the ECIS code. The transmission coefficients for alpha 2240 1451 39 particles were obtained from the optical potential of McFadden 2240 1451 40 and Satchler. Those for deuterons are from the optical potential 2240 1451 41 of Perey and Perey. Alpha and deuteron transmission coefficients 2240 1451 42 were calculated using the SCAT2 routine. A simple Lorentzian is 2240 1451 43 assumed for the E1 photon strength function, and is normalized to 2240 1451 44 measured or systematic values of the average total s-wave 2240 1451 45 radiation width at the neutron binding energy. 2240 1451 46 2240 1451 47 Backshifted Fermi gas level density parameters are derived from 2240 1451 48 measured s-wave resonance spacings where available. For other 2240 1451 49 nuclei, systematic values are adopted. At low energies a constant 2240 1451 50 temperature form is adopted, and the two formulae are matched at 2240 1451 51 an energy between the backshift and the neutron binding energy so 2240 1451 52 as to give the best possible fit to known spectroscopic levels. 2240 1451 53 2240 1451 54 Discrete levels are taken from the Reference Input Parameter 2240 1451 55 Library (RIPL) with additional evaluations performed by R.
