Statement of Significance (as of designation - May 15, 1975):
From about 1865 to 1890, this was the home of James B. Weaver (1833-1912), Populist candidate for President and anti-monopolist. Weaver was a proponent of the graduated income tax and principal sponsor of free coinage of silver.

Condition:
The sandstone foundation is deteriorating and the house has begun to shift, which is causing severe physical deterioration. The house needs tuck pointing, windows and chimney need repair, along with the foundation problems that must be corrected. A historical architect from the MWRO will conduct a preliminary condition assessment of the building and offer treatment recommendations.

New owners have spent approximately $40,000 on structural repair and rehabilitation, mainly on the interior and upgrading utilities. They also rehabilitated the ownerÂ’s private living quarters (house is a functioning bed and breakfast) and repaired the fireplace and some windows.
