Semiconductor Manufacturing faster, smaller, cheaper chips

Computer microchips made with semiconductors are everywhere: in cars, telephones, ovens, and even singing birthday cards. NIST helps the semiconductor industry keep up with the accelerating demand for faster, smaller, and cheaper products. NIST's Advanced Technology Program provides co-funding for the development of a variety of new microelectronics equipment and processing technologies. NIST labs develop reference materials and test methods to help manufacturers produce reliable devices with features smaller than 1/100th the width of a human hair.
