NTIS#: PB92-224666-HDM

This volume summarizes the experimental findings of electromagnetic field (EMF) measurements on the Transrapid maglev system and compares the results to common home, work and power lines emissions for selected spectral bands.

Safety of High-Speed Magnetic Levitation Transportation Systems - Magnetic Field Testing of the TR07 Maglev Vehicle and System - Volume II - Appendices, Fred Dietrich, David Robertson, George Steiner, Electric Research and Management, Inc.,
April 1992
DOT/FRA/ORD-92/09.2 || DOT-VNTSC-FRA-92-6.2
NTIS#: PB92-224674-HDM

This volume catalogs and documents detailed magnetic field data files and their specifics (static fields, AC fields, spectral waveforms, temporal and spatial information) by location for the measurements taken on the Transrapid maglev system.

Novel Cryogen-free Actively Shielded Superconducting Magnets for Maglev Vehicles, General Electric Corporate R & D Lab (GE-RD)
June, 1992
DOT/FRA/NMI-92/07
NTIS#:PB93-154771-INZ

This research resulted in the modeling and design of a shielded superconducting magnet (SCM) system for a maglev system. This design uses novel, cryogen-free refrigeration technology with conventional niobium-tin SCM's, and offers cost and reliability advantages for EDS maglev concepts, to provide field-levels in the passenger compartment that comply with existing exposure safety guidelines and standards.

Safety of High-Speed Magnetic Levitation Transportation Systems - High-Speed Maglev Trains; German Safety Requirements RW-MSB, RW MSB Working Group
January 1992
DOT/FRA/ORD-92/01 || DOT-VNTSC-FRA-92/1
NTIS #: PB92-167006

This document is a translation of technology-specific safety requirements developed for the Transrapid maglev technology.

Safety of High-Speed Magnetic Levitation Transportation Systems - German High-Speed Maglev Train Safety Requirements - Potential for Application in the United States,
R.M. Dorer, S.H. Markos, R.A. Wlodyka, H.S. Lee, M. Coltman, W.T. Hathaway,
A.E. Barrington, A. Brecher
February 1992
DOT/FRA/ORD-92/02 || DOT-VNTSC-FRA-92-3
NTIS #: PB92-167014

This report addresses the safety of high-speed maglev trains and presents the results of a review of German maglev and U.S. passenger train safety requirements. The intent was to determine the suitability of German safety requirements for application to maglev systems as proposed for U.S. application.
