F. Javier Martin-Torres

F. Javier Martin-Torres received his PhD in Applied Physics in 1999 from the University of Granada, Spain. Since then he has been working in the modeling and analysis of remote sensing measurements and, in particular, in atmospheric radiative transfer modeling under non-Local Thermodynamic Equilibrium conditions. He is the author of the line-by-line radiative transfer code FUTBOLIN (FUll Transfer By Optimized LINe-by-line) and his research interests also include spectroscopy, retrieval theory, atmospheric energetic balance, Earth-Sun interactions and comparative planetology and characterization of extra-solar planets. He was part of the Space Shuttle Columbia Investigation Team and, from 2006, he is the convener of the session on “Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer in Planetary Atmospheres” at the European Geosciences Union Annual Meeting. He has been Invited Editor at the 2008 Special Issue of the J. of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer on Planetary Atmospheres. Currently he is also a Visiting Assistant Researcher at the Joint Institute for Earth System Science and Engineering (JIFRESSE) at UCLA.
