Annotation: SWISS SPECIALIST GIVES A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF SOME OF THE APPLICATIONS OF PHOTOGRAPHY TO CRIMINALISTICS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT.
Abstract: PHOTOGRAPHY IS USED EITHER AS A DIRECT TOOL OF ANALYSIS OR AS A METHOD OF PRESENTING THE RESULTS OF CHEMICAL OR OTHER NON-PHOTOGRAPHIC TESTS. A DIRECT APPLICATION IS TO MAKE VISIBLE WHAT IS NOT VISIBLE TO THE NAKED EYE, USING THE TECHNIQUES OF REFLECTION, TRANSPARENCE, DIFFUSION, COLOR EMULSIONS, COLOR FILTERS, ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT, AND INFRARED LIGHT. THE ARTICLE INCLUDES PHOTOGRAPHS ILLUSTRATING THE RESULTS OF THESE TECHNIQUES. OTHER APPLICATIONS OF PHOTOGRAPHY ARE POLICE TRAINING AIDS AND CONCEALED SECURITY SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS. --IN FRENCH
