Title: A System for Predicting the Amout of Phellinus (Fomes) Igniarius Rot in Trembling Aspen Stands
Author(s): Anderson, Robert L.; Schipper, Arthur L. Jr.
Date: 1978
Source: Research Note NC-232. St. Paul, MN: U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Forest Service, North Central Forest Experiment Station
Station ID: rn-NC-232
Description: The occurence of Phellinus (Fomes) igniarius white trunk rot in 45- to 50-year-old trembling aspen stands can be predicted by pplying a constant to the stand basal area with P. igniarius cooks to estimate the total basel area with P. igniarius rot. Future decay projections can be made by reapplying the basal area of hidden decay for each 6 years projected. This paper describes the methods used to determine the constant and how to use it in the field.
