Subject: Score keeping in the viewing stands?



Would it be illegal if a team were to construct a
large LED (or paper flip-card) sign for the purpose of
keeping track of score, and if a member of that team
in the viewing stands, watching the match, displays
the score in real time toward the playing field so
that it is visible to drivers and the coach? 

If this is NOT legal, would it be legal to create such
a display that only displayed the score information to
the crowd. (not the drivers?)

Would it be illegal if a person in the crowd keeping
track of the score, and yelled (strictly audibly) the
scores up to the drivers as they compete?

Subject: More questions

Is there any limit on how much our bot can cost?

Is there any length restrictions on arms or feet as long as they can 
fit within the original size restrictions?

Can we use water (as a coolant)?

Is there any required thickness on the sheet metal? (ie. aluminum or 
steel)

What would happen if a bot were tipped over and it wasn't our fault, 
(ie. a bot runs into our bot and falls over) would we get 
disqualified for that?

Subject: Fiberglass lamination

Appendix C (Additional Hardware List) allows any amount of 
fiberglass, up to 1/8 inch thick.  It also allows resin and hardner 
as required for the fiberglass.

Is it a correct interpretation that we may use fiberglass cloth and 
resin to laminate the plywood (also allowed in Appendix C) up to 1/8 
inch thickness on either side?

In similar fashion, could the Foam 'Balsa' from Small Parts be 
laminated with Fiberglass cloth and resin to create a structural 
element?

Subject: Dimension confusion on goal

On the Drawing of the goal there is 12.5" dimension from the bottom 
of the upper piece of plywood to the top of the lower piece of 
plywood.  The 1-1/4" npt galvanized nipple is only 12" long. Does the 
nipple sit flush to the two planes of the plywood or is there a .25" 
step on each of the Flanges?  If there is no step on the id odf the 
flanges, then what dimesion is correct???  Don't the two dimensions 
have to match if they sit flush with each other; the nipple and the 
plywood?

What else besides what is in the kit can we buy in terms of 
pneumatics?  Can we only buy extra cylinders with a limit of four 
from the order form on the back of the pneumatics manual???  There is 
no mention of any pneumatic parts on the additional parts list, Do 
small parts offer any compatible parts?
  
Also is there a total dollar amount limit a team can spend on the 
robot, whether it be from small parts, or additional hardware?

Subject: Kit of Parts Question

Couple Questions regarding the kit of parts:

1: On the lost for the kit of parts one of the items loose in the green container is a "Torque Motor" and thats all it says about that item.  We cannot locate it, or at least we cannot identify it IF we do have it.  What does it look like?  Who makes it?  Also, we cannot locate/identify the "Torque Motor Anti-Rotation Bracket".  What does it look like?  

If we do infact not have them (which we think is the case), who should we contact?

2: On the Kit of Parts list it says "Pneumatics Kit".  Accorss several message forums different teams aparently have different objects in their Kit's.  What is (and how many of them) are suppose to be in the kit?

1) We are curious as to what is the definition for the
"entanglement" rules, and what qualifies as a tether
to a part of the robot (including minimum
requirements)?

2)The rules or manual states that we are allowed to
use/have 5 pneumatic cylinders on the robot, however,
are we allowed to purchase more as back ups?

3)For materials and parts, we are allowed to order and
use anything from Small Parts.  They offer block
aluminum, however, the rules or manual states that it
should be 1/4 of an inch thick at whatever length. 
Which is the rule to follow?

If a Goal with Balls is on the border of 2 zones, it is considered to 
be in BOTH zones, Right?  But balls and goals can only be scored 
once ... so no big deal ...

However, if a Robot is in both zones 1 and 5 (e.g. with a tethered 
part), would that Robot score count for BOTH teams?
