The MTS (Material Testing System) has an axial load capacity of one-million pounds. The servo-controlled system can test specimens in load, stroke, or strain control while the data from LVDT´s (Linear Variable Differential Transformers) are recorded and analyzed in real-time. Sample preparation equipment, including lapidary saws, drills, and grinders, support the research facility while the ASTM Rock Testing Standards are the testing protocol.
