Essentials of Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention: A Training Series for Coordinators and Case Managers 2008
This series of netconferences is designed for perinatal hepatitis B prevention coordinators and case workers in state and local health departments. A total of four netconferences will be offered in 2008 and will provide guidance to successfully manage, implement, and evaluate a perinatal hepatitis B prevention program. The content will be drawn from CDC-developed guidelines and resources, such as the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices immunization strategy to eliminate hepatitis B virus infection in the United States, the perinatal hepatitis B prevention program manual, and the immunization program operations manual.
The series consists of four stand-alone sessions, each one hour and fifteen minutes in length. Each session will include a presentation by a perinatal hepatitis B prevention coordinator from the field and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers. Session One will focus on identification of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)-positive pregnant women. Session Two will focus on case management of HBsAg-positive pregnant women, their infants, and their household and sexual contacts. Session Three will provide guidance on the evaluation of a perinatal hepatitis B prevention program. Finally, Session Four will discuss ways to work with delivery hospitals to prevent perinatal hepatitis B virus infection, including the universal birth dose of hepatitis B vaccine.
Continuing Education (CE) credits will be provided. Please register for CE credits after each session.
