In third grade someone told Daniel Schauerhamer that the sun was an average of 93 million miles away, and he has been fascinated with space ever since. At Utah State University Daniel participated on the Chimaera Rocket Team designing and building a twenty-foot hybrid rocket. He also did flow simulations on the Mars Entry Vehicle for his Honor's Thesis. Daniel completed his Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2007 at Utah State University where he made his greatest discovery in meeting and marrying his wife Kat.
Daniel now works at NASA Ames Research Center in computational fluid dynamics. An avid mountain biker, rock climber, and camper he spends much of his free time in the mountains. With the recent move to California, he has the opportunity to put his scuba diving certification to use. Daniel loves anything in the air and is constantly looking up to watch planes or helicopter s fly by. He plans on keeping space application a central part of his work as he develops his career.
