   Dear Bill and Mel,
                       Dino Goulianos and I have read the June 17/18th versions
of the papers by Paolo Giromini and collaborators:
   Small Angle Elastic Scattering
   Single Diffraction Dissociation........
   Antiproton-Proton Total Cross Section
                All the essential (and many of the non-essential) comments to
the earlier versions have been correctly incorporated. The work is very well
documented and we think the papers are important. We are happy to recommend
them for submission to Phys. Rev. D with the request that they be published
together, preferably in the above order.

 Given the interest shown by many theoreticians for the epsilon-value
 derived from the single-diffraction M2-dependence, we have completed 
 a new analysis of single-diffraction data with a momentum resolution 
 improved by 30% at sqrt{s}=546 and 300% at sqrt{s}=1800.
 Within one sigma, no number in the papers changed; however, the epsilon-error
 is improved by 50% and the error on the single diffraction cross section
 is reduced by a factor two at sqrt{s}=1800. 

 Apparatus figures quoted in the papers are not available in postscript form,
 they are anyhow unchanged from previous versions. They can also be obtained
 from the authors.
