Early in the morning on August 24th, a summer snow storm visited the
peaks of the mountains in the North Fork, as well as other parts
of the park. Snow continued to fall well into the afternoon in
higher regions. This photo taken from Big Prairie, is a reminder
that weather in Glacier can be temperamental, and that hikers
and backcountry travelers in higher elevations should be prepared
for a variety of weather conditions year round.

Those willing
to travel the rough, rustic roads of the North Fork are
treated to surprises around every corner, like a colorful sky at
sunset that silhouettes and softens the rugged mountains.
