Abstract:A sample of 1,601 female and 1,344 male seventh and eighth graders from large or small schools viewed videotapes of occupations presented either by job title or job description. Boys perceived fewer than half of the careers as more appropriate for one gender, girls one-third. Job titles elicited more sex-typing among girls than did job descriptions. (SK)
