HIV intervention in commercial sex workers in slum.

ISSUE/PROBLEM: Inter district commercial sex workers are at high level of risk both receiving as well as transtmitting HIV infective. An in-tensive programme will counsell, effective follow up and supportive out reach services were mostly like to help behaviour charges among the commercial sex wonkers an the slum. PROJECT DISCRIPTION: A survey has been conducted in Dhinducal Municipality area and the findings revealed that high levels of STD among the commercial sex workers. AIDS/HIV awareness were poor to medium, but not feel them as a personal problam. Social marketting of free supply of condoms and STD outreach were found out as significant area of intervention, along with effective informative dissemination. A health education guide was setup in the urban slum. RESULT: Interdistrict commercial sex workers are receiving condom and health education and it serves as STD counselling and referel centre. STD awareness among the commercial sex workers have grown up significants. In nutshell, the response among the comercial sex warkers have been highly satisfactory.
