This report presents the packet of measures used in the major research study that compared group treatment for men who batter. |
Abstract:
|
An intake form contains demographic information on the abuser and poses questions for the abuser to answer, such as whether the partner has ever gone to a shelter for battered women, how the abuser found out about the program, and any contacts with the criminal justice system. Another questionnaire contains questions designed to ascertain how the abuser views himself. A related Personal Reaction Inventory focuses on the abuser's personal attitudes and traits. A questionnaire contains questions about what actions the abuser has taken in relation to his partner. An Inventory of Beliefs contains a number of statements about violence toward women that require expressions of various levels of agreement and disagreement. A Social Contact Questionnaire focuses on the abuser's interaction with others when the subject of conversation is the abuser's relationship with the victim. The remainder of this packet contains the components of an interpretation guide for the new pre/post tests the project has adopted. Included for each test is its source, purpose, scoring method, and interpretation. |
