CARTER SECURES FUNDS FOR TECO-WESTINGHOUSE MOTOR COMPANY

Washington, Oct 9 -

Representative John Carter (R-Round Rock), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced that $2 million has been included in the 2009 Defense Appropriations bill for Teco-Westinghouse Motor Company in Round Rock.  The funds will provide research tools to accommodate the introduction of the High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) Trap Field Magnet (TFM) Motors which will help future Navy ships meet power requirements for future fleets.

“I am pleased to have secured funding for research that will help our Navy ships reach their power requirements for the future,” Carter said.  “The HTS TFM will produce twice the power and will save our military money.  By funding this valuable research project, we can ensure that our Navy remains the best and strongest in the world.”
