1st Grade Teachers Share their Classroom Management Suggestions

This is my 4th year using SCOOL with my students.

In the beginning of the school year, we learn about cloud identification as a whole group and do group observations usings sticky dots and cloud charts, ground conditions, and visual opacity. I tell them that they are going to work for NASA and that they are very important people because NASA wants to know about the weather conditions at Sissonville, WV. They are excited and at the end of the year they get a certifcate for all their work. After about a month then I send a team of 2 to 3 students out doors which is right across the hall from our room with the SCOOL clip board, the cloud identifiction chart, a picture chart of the ground conditions, and cloud opacity, and a place to write the temperature. They go outside and then bring back their observations and place the clipboard back on the hook where we keep it. Each day a different group of students do this.

If first graders can do this then any grade level can.
