Benefits for Partners and Relatives of All 9/11 Victims
I was astonished to read that some partners and relatives of the 9/11
victims may not be compensated from the fund. Specifically I am referring to
the surviving partners and relatives of gay and lesbian 9/11 victims.
While I oppose discrimination against gay and lesbian Americans anytime,
discrimination at this time is particularly odious in view of what we know
now know about the deeds of heroes such as   and   , who happen to be gay men.
Now is the opportunity for Americans to unite and heal together. It is not
the time to perpetuate artifical divisions among Americans. Those brave
heroes of 9/11 didn't, we shouldn't either. Let's reach out and take care of
their loved ones and show how much stronger we can grow as a nation in the
process.
Sincerely,
(a straight woman who believes in the spirit of our constitution)
