Ambassador Ashe presenting awards at Read Aloud Contest
U.S. Ambassador to Poland Victor Ashe presented copies of American Short Stories Since 1945 to the top five winners of the Libros Lege Read Aloud Contest at the Awards Ceremony held at the Frederic Chopin Music Academy on May 12.  The Contest is the first-ever of its kind. It is a shared project between "Koszykowa" Warsaw City Public Library and Eisenhower PLD of Norridge (IL) whose main objective is to encourage Poles 16 and older to develop English language skills and stimulate interest in American and English-language literature through a reading contest in which participants read aloud from passages selected from a list of American literature.  This year, 22 semi-finalists competed on Saturday, May 10 for the top award, given to the top five winners - a trip to Chicago, Illinois.  In Illinois, winners of the Read Aloud Contest competed for a trip to Warsaw.  Ambassador Ashe was an honorary patron on the Contest in Poland.
