7:40 P.M.

Dearest Lil --

A brief respite at this hour--we're at leisure to wander around in front of our barracks for a smoke--or to sit in the barracks & write or just loll around. We're all pretty thoroughly fatigued--I'm sure I'll sleep well when I hit the hay at 9:30 (can you imagine?) unless I dwell too much on my loving household and the freedom and unrestraint of civilian life. Honestly, I've had a hard time subduing my emotions & feelings of despondency & homesickness. It's a matter of adjustment-but I shall always crave for home, Snookie & the little [waveler].
