White-lined Sphinx (Hyles lineata, Hodges # 7894), family Sphingidae, Kane County, Illinois, 11 July 2003. White-lined Sphinx, one of our more common sphinx moths, may be active in late afternoons and evening, and resembles a small hummingbird when visiting flowers.
