Process_Step: Process_Description: The eastern section of the Gillette coalfield polygon was derived from Kent's map. This section was scanned and digitized using automated line following techniques. The northern, southern, and western portions of the map were derived from township and range lines from a USGS digital map. These lines were extracted from the source data and pasted into the Gillette polygon. The eastern section was then joined with this section to create a polygon. The coverage was projected to geographic coordinates and made into a shape file in ArcView.
