If NARA does increase the amounts charged for Civil War Military files to $125.00
per file, the average person will no longer be able to afford to buy their ancestor's
military records.
There are many non-profit organizations that require people to submit these
records to the organization for membership. This will destroy these organizations.
My ancestor's file contained a total of ten pages. That would be $12.50 per page.
NARA needs to rethink this proposal.
In this day and age, it is time to digitalize or microfilm these files and cut down
the need to make copies and send them through the mail.
