Two periods of spacecraft maneuvers occurred in October 2007, one on October 10 (day 2007-283) from 13:35 to 16:58, another on October 16 (day 2007-289) from 14:37 to 17:49, producing errors in geolocation for some of the data taken during this period. The image below shows the resulting banding and apparent "jumps" in the data from MOD09GHK tiles h10v09 and h11v08 on day 2007-283. This issue is due to the instrument and cannot be corrected, so this data should not be used.
NOTE: Most of this error has been corrected through the use of an updated ephemeris, but this issue has not been completely resolved. See comment before the third picture below.

Update- As of November 14, 2007, much of this error has been found to be correctable through the use of a corrected ephemeris table. However, some streaky artefacts remain in the data. The picture immediately below shows a subset of tile h10v05, day 2007283, from the original data set. The following picture shows the same subset from the same tile and day, but reprocessed with the new ephemeris. |
