On day 219 of 2002, geolocation irregularities are apparent in tiles h09v04 and h09v05. The first image below shows a section of tile h09v04 on that day. The geolocation irregularities are apparent, especially when compared with the second image, showing the same section of tile h09v04 on day 218 of 2002. The third image shows a section of tile h09v05 on day 2002219, and the fourth image shows the same section of that tile for day 2002220. All images are RGBs with band 4 reflectances used for red, band 3 reflectances for green, and band 1 reflectances for blue.


The fifth image below shows a subsection of the MOD09A1 composite for day 2002217, which includes the data taken on 2002219. This image is enlarged to show the details of a streaky pattern that occurs near the top left corner of the composite image. Many of the pixels in the streaked area are taken from day 2002219, so it is likely that the geolocation shift has produced this pattern. However, the area affected is small and the effect is even less pronounced in the downstream products (VI, LAI, FPAR).
