Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 02/10/2009
 
Receipts:  3600    Last Week:  1268    Year Ago:  963
 
   Compared to last week’s light test, feeder steers and heifers sold steady
to 3.00 higher.  As producers spent most of last week recovering from the ice
storm many stayed busy repairing fences instead of bringing calves to the 
market, which resulted in a light comparison.  The week’s market was more 
comparable to last Friday’s Special Feeder Cattle Auction.  Last week’s 
modest gains in the fed cattle arena were reflected in this week’s feeder 
cattle buying interests.  Supply was moderate but was hampered somewhat by 
the muddy barnyards.  These conditions could continue as heavy rains are 
predicted for the local area later in the week.  Supply consisted of 56 
percent steers and 44 percent heifers.  Near 56 percent weighed over 600 lbs.

108.50-121.00, pkg fancy 485 lbs 127.50; 500-550 lbs 106.00-117.50; 550-600
