Message: | Finance Docket No. 35095. Draft Scope of Study or ARRC proposed alternatives STB’s Port MacKenzie Rail EIS I am concerned about the environomental impact of the Port MacKenzie Rail Extension if it is routed through the Willow area wetlands. The wetlands (i.e. swamps) of Willow provide an important and unique resources to the watershed and wildlife of southcentral Alaska. I have deliberately purchased a parcel of land in this area. In the spring and summer I am albe to observe the nesting site of a pair of sandhill cranes and other waterfowl in an adejacent wetland. Fall and Winter I enjoy the ability to recreate with sled dogs and snowmachines. I purchased this land with the intent of retiring to Willow. The culture of the town of Willow is rare in any space within driving distance of the city of Anchorage. Placement of the railroad extension through this land will have both an immediate environmental impact and a secondary environmental impact as the extension will create the need for development not appropriate to the culture of Willow.
