Accident Summary - Continued

Photo of Luxair accident site.

Since the Captain was holding the throttles up against the automatic flight idle stop when the Skid Control Unit power up anomaly caused that stop to be removed, the throttles were moved well back into the reverse power regime. This was evident from the illumination of both low pitch lights and a significant increase in the speed of both propellers. Doubtless the movement of the throttles into the reverse power regime was inadvertent rather than a conscious decision on part of the Captain. This conclusion is supported by the surprise, confusion, and concern which is evident in the Captains comments as captured on the CVR at that time.
