Northern Pearly Eye		Enodia anthedon (Clark), 1936
				Habitat: Deep, shady woodlands; often perches on trunks; drinks sap
				Larval food: Grasses, incl. Leersia, Hystix, Phalaris, Schizachne
				Adult flight: One brood in July
				References: Royer 80, Opler & Krizek 176, Scott 234
				Confirmed occurrences: 26 Jun 1995 in NE1/4 S12 T135N R53W (south end of 
				Mirror Pool Woods), and S1/2 S2 T135N R53W (cattle exclosure in RNA); 2 Jul 
				1995 in S1/2 S2 T135N R53W (cattle exclosure in RNA).

Northern Eyed Brown		Satyrodes eurydice (Johansson), 1763
				Habitat: Open sedge meadows and marshlands
				Larval food: Primarily Carex spp.
				Adult flight: One brood, primarily in July

				Confirmed occurrences: 26 Jun 1995 in S1/2 S2 T135N R53W.

Little Wood Satyr		Megisto cymela (Cramer), 1777
				Habitat: Shady woodlands, in ND often near hazel stands
				Larval food: Dactylis glomerata, doubtless other grass species
				Adult flight: One brood, primarily in June

				Confirmed occurrences: 26 Jun 1995 in NE1/4 S12 T135N R53W (abundant at 
				south end Mirror Pool Woods along trail in sumac), and S1/2 S2 T135N R53W 
				in woods; 2 Jul 1995 in S1/2 S2 T135N R53W in woods.

Inornate Ringlet		Coenonympha inornata(Edwards), 1861
				Habitat: Open, grassy meadows and native prairies
				Larval food: Doubtless many grass species are utilized
				Adult flight: One brood, primarily in late May and June

				Confirmed occurrences: 12 Jun 1995 on transect, NW1/4 S35 T135N R54W and 
				S13 T134N R54W; 13 Jun 1995 on transect, NW1/4 S35 T135N R54W, S2 T135N 
				R53W, and S1/2 S20 and N1/2 S29 T135N R52W; 25 Jun 1995 on transect, NW1/4 
				S35 T135N R54W and S1/2 SW4 S21 T134N R53W; 26 Jun 1995 on transect and 
				elsewhere in N1/2 S27 T134N R54W, W1/2 S35 T135N R54W, and SW1/4 S1 T134N 
				R54W; 2 Jul 1995 in S1/2 S2 T135N R53W and W1/2 S35 T135N R54W.

Common Wood Nymph		Cercyonis pegala (Fabricius), 1775
				Habitat: Native prairies and grasslands
				Larval food: Andropogon, Stipa; many grasses are no doubt utilized
				Adult flight: One brood, primarily in July and August

				Confirmed occurrences: 2 Jul 1995 in S1/2 S2 T135N R53W and W1/2 S35 T135N 
				R54W; 31 Jul 1995 on transect and elsewhere in N1/2 S27 T134N R54W, also in 
				S1/2 S2 T135N R53W; 1 Aug 1995 on transect, in NW1/4 S14 T134N R53W, and in 
				W1/2 S35 T135N R54W; 16 Aug 1995 on transect and elsewhere in N1/2 S27 
				T134N R54W.

Varuna Arctic			Oeneis uhleri varuna (W. H. Edwards), 1882
				Habitat: TL = "Plains of Dakota Territory"; well drained prairie slopes
				Larval food: Unknown grass sp.
				Adult flight: One brood, mid-May into June
				References: Royer 84, Ferris & Brown 284, Scott 250
				Confirmed occurrences: Not recorded in the Sheyenne National Grassland in 
				1995, but reported from Ransom County in 1994. Rare this far southeast.
