Description/Abstract Modified DTA curves (MDTA) have been used to elucidate the mechanism of oxidation of the graphitized active carbon-manganese oxide catalyst system in a static air atomosphere.^It was found that the method is a very useful tool when the DTA curves give disputable results, especially after passing through the exothermic peak.^From the DTA curves two different mechanisms of oxidation were proposed, depending on the manganese oxide content.
