The Washington State Legislature passed a law establishing the Whitman Park Commission which was authorized to purchase the mission and monument property when the Legislature provided the funds. Apparently funds were never available. B. 412, pp. 346 - 348. 33. Marvin M. Richardson cites the founding of the church in 1907 although the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin quotes a woman who claims to have been married in the church in 1902.
